Shark week does not disappoint

The marketers of Shark Week sent a chilling direct mail piece to a select group of reporters and bloggers. The piece contained a bloody pair of shorts, some shark related swag and a carefully researched obituary about the recipient. The packet also invited the recipient to go to the next phase of the campaign — a Web site where you yourself can enjoy the first-person experience of being eaten alive. Is it the creepiest direct mail piece ever? Maybe.  Was it effective? Definitely.
